Star Trails in the City When we started our #EveryNewMoon project of 2016 we set out with intentions of travelling to shoot if the weather at home was not cooperating.  The whole point of the project after all is to ensure we keep shooting, and chase darker skies when we can! Facing some tough work commitments, I was […]

Christian van den Berge who runs DSLR-astrophotography.com recently ran this interview with me. Processing The Star Factory, M42

Posted by AstroTanja on 06 Dec 2013 / 7 Comments

M42 is a glorious mix of diffuse nebula and one of the the brightest nebulae in the sky. It’s a wonderful target for novice and experienced imagers as there’s always more data and detail to find. It’s easy to capture – but difficult to master.

Chasing Andromeda

Posted by AstroTanja on 16 Sep 2013 / 3 Comments

Andromeda eludes me from my location (Jozi, South Africa). In a relentless pursuit to capture photons, I packed my gear and headed north for some quality astro imaging. First stop Iowa, USA, where I met up with Cory Schmitz (@TheAstroShake) and tested the setup the same night. Some weeks prior to my arrival I purchased […]
